Post-concussion syndrome (PCS)

Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) is a condition that can occur after a person has experienced a concussion, which is a type of mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). PCS typically involves a range of symptoms that persist for weeks, months, or even years after the initial injury.

Symptoms of PCS can include headaches, dizziness, fatigue, irritability, difficulty sleeping, sensitivity to light or noise, problems with memory or concentration, and changes in mood or behavior. These symptoms can have a significant impact on a person’s daily life, and may interfere with their ability to work, socialize, or carry out daily activities.

While most people recover from a concussion within a few weeks, some individuals may experience persistent symptoms that meet the criteria for PCS. The exact cause of PCS is not fully understood, but it is thought to result from a combination of physical, psychological, and environmental factors.
